Two meteor showers, one spectacular season: Summer stargazing begins

According to the International Meteor Organization (IMO), the Southern Delta Aquariids are active from mid-July through late August and are expected to reach maximum activity around July 30-31, while the Perseids will peak on August 12-13. The overlapping activity of these meteor showers makes late July through mid-August one of the best periods each year for skywatching.
