Contemporary works on paper exhibition opening at Newfields

Rise Through Everything: Geometry, Rhythm, and Gesture unites visionary modern and contemporary Black artists who have transformed art on paper to cite cultural knowledge, express lived experiences, and engage in radical acts of self-definition. This exhibition, curated by Associate Curator of Works on Paper, Anna Stein, features 16 prints, photographs, drawings, and collages, including works from Yashua Klos, Derrick Adams and Ayana Jackson. “Perhaps my favorite thing about this exhibition is how many stunning additions to our collection it debuts,” said Stein. “Ten of the works are new acquisitions that really showcase the direction we are taking at Newfields with the experiences we are crafting and stories we are telling.” Placing newer voices alongside established masters, Rise Through Everything creates a dialogue
