Safety volunteer charged in fatal shooting at Utah 'No Kings' protest

Prosecutors say a safety volunteer accused of fatally shooting a man participating in a “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City in June has been charged with manslaughter. Matt Alder allegedly fired at a man who was holding a rifle during the demonstration. That man was injured. Another round allegedly struck Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, who died. Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill also announced Wednesday that the man who was holding the rifle won't be charged. Utah is an open-carry state, meaning people who can legally own a firearm are generally allowed to carry it on a public street.
