Microsoft files a patent for a new foldable gadget with a single hinge system called the "spine cover plate" but discontinues the Surface Duo smartphones. In addition to providing additional advantages and durability, the design seeks to remove the hinge crease and decrease the device's thickness. Its applicability is still unclear, though.
