In an effort to develop new leadership while continuing to play in all formats, Ajinkya Rahane has given up his position as captain of Mumbai's domestic cricket team. Rahane pledged to help the team succeed in the future after leading Mumbai to victory in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy the previous season. Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer are two possible captaincy contenders for Mumbai.
