Earn Vault Data to spend on loadouts on future runs, but it's a self-contained mode so you can't use equipment gained there outside of it, and vice versa. Bungie has shown off Vault Breaker in a new gameplay trailer. This is Marathon's experimental, time-limited PvE mode, which arrives today in Season 2's mid-season update.
